This year, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Medical Association staged two major events to highlight the continued need to build awareness about Breast Cancer, which is known to occur in females and males. This disease carries a significant health, social and financial burden on those affected by it.

On Friday October 16th, the Medical Association staged the 3rd Annual Pink Cap City Walk as part of this campaign and strengthened it with the formation of a Breast Cancer Awareness (Human) PINK RIBBON in the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Car Park on Sunday October 18th, 2009.
Both events saw the collaborative participation of members of the SVG Medical Association, the Soroptomists International, The La Gracia Dancers, the Nurses and Nurses Association, the Girl Guides Association, students of Trinity School of Medicine, the St. Vincent Jaycees, the West Kingstown Women’s Group, and other interested persons. Special photography for these events was provided by Mr. Oris Robertson, and Mr. Shaun Young.

The Medical Association undertook the sale of Pink Caps, Pink Tote Bags, Pink Ribbon Lapel pins and Pink Umbrellas as part of the Association’s fund raising efforts to assist patients who need financial support for cancer treatment at overseas facilities.

We wish to thank all our partner organisations, the various authorities and the general public for its support in this important venture.
